HMI Academy, also known as HMI Medical Academy, is a renowned educational institution dedicated to preparing students for medical entrance exams, particularly the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). MDCAT is a standardized test in Pakistan that is a crucial requirement for students aspiring to enter medical and dental colleges across the country.

Overview of HMI Academy

For students preparing for the MDCAT exam, online resources like HMI Academy offer comprehensive preparation materials, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with detailed explanations for each option. These resources are invaluable for understanding not only the correct answers but also the reasoning behind each option, which enhances conceptual clarity and critical thinking skills.

MDCAT Preparation MCQs with Explanations

Here are some sample MCQs with explanations for each option:

Biology

Question: Which of the following is not a function of the cell membrane?
A. Protection
B. Selective permeability
C. Protein synthesis
D. Cell communication

Explanation:

  • A. Protection: The cell membrane does provide some level of protection to the cell, though it is not its primary function.
  • B. Selective permeability: This is a primary function of the cell membrane, allowing certain substances to enter or leave the cell while blocking others.
  • C. Protein synthesis: This is not a function of the cell membrane. Protein synthesis occurs in the ribosomes.
  • D. Cell communication: The cell membrane plays a critical role in cell communication through receptor sites and signal transduction.

Correct Answer: C. Protein synthesis
